Well its been a few days since I posted I wanted to do daily updates, but turns out I'm pretty busy lol.

Anyway, Today I had an apple for breakfast , Turkey and mustard on wheat and a plum for lunch.

I broke a personal record today on the treadmill, I did 2.1 miles in 30 mins! I think I burned like 335 calories :) After that I did 20 crunches and 20 push ups . I was exhausted from work today, so I think I did quite well :)

For dinner, we "paper" steaks , baked potatoe and steamed vegies. We snacked on a few cherries a minute ago perhaps some fat free yogurt in a bit...prob not though feeling pretty full, which is a good thing, feeling full after eating not even enough to fill up a mouse lol!!

I'm still at about the same amount of smokes per day, 6-7

Well first and foremost. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!! :)

Well this past weekend was not what one would call a good weekend as you may have read in the previous post. However today was good :)

Lets start with the bad part first though...which isn't that bad really...I skipped breakfast again :P For lunch I had turkey and mustard on wheat with a light yogurt. I snacked on a few peanuts throughout the day.

After work, I hopped on the treadmill and did one of the workout programs on it. I did 30 mins, 1.7 miles, 284 calories. This is a bit less than the last treadmill run, but this time was only 30 mins instead of 40. After I was done on the treadmill, I did 30 crunches, 25 push ups, and 40 reps each arm with 8 lb. weights. Lol, I know, Iknow only 8 lbs.?!?!?! Well I already have a lot of muscle in my arms, and I guess I'm more or less trying to tone them up. They say lighter weight with more reps to tone.  Amber did 20 mins, 1 mile, 138 calories. She also did a few reps with the weights :)

For dinner we had the lean pork chops again, steamed vegetables and rice, it was really tasty :)

So far off to a good week again...lets hope this weekend goes a little better than last lol!!

I think I had 6-7 smokes today...At least I'm consistant :P

Well this weekend was sort of a failure :( food wise we did pretty good, but exercise not so good. It has been a busy weekend, and I know that really is no excuse, but it is what it is. We did lunch at Longhorn Steak house on Friday, we shared fries, and we each got a salad . I know, the fries were probably not the best choice but we shared between us and the kids so not so bad. We did lunch at Chilis on Saturday, and well that was not as good lol, we each had a cheeseburger!!!!...OOPS!!!! Hey as far as I'm concerned you shouldn't deprive yourself of the things you like...it's all about portion. 

This morning she had oatmeal and a yogurt, and I had multi grain cheerios and a yogurt...light yogurt so thats good :) Who knows what we'll do for lunch, we are going to the mall to walk around so who knows, but it will be healthy whatever we choose. 

Had to install a new door knob last night, and it was quite the pain in the ass. I had to file and sand down the hole so the new one would fit...it took over an hour to do the whole job...should have taken 20 mins.!!! We need to get back into gear with doing the renovations here at the house...got some paint for the kitchen yesterday as well...does painting count as exercise?!?!?!? lol I guess not. 

Oh yeah I forgot, I tried some yoga with Amber Friday morning. Let me tell you, it is not easy!!!! It looks easy, it is NOT! I didn't even make it through the whole 12 or 15 mins that it was, and it was BEGINNER level! So mad props to those of you who may do yoga :) I'm not gonna give up on it though, I'm gonna try and do yoga on the days I do not do the treadmill. They say it is good to do the "core" exercises as well, so I'll keep trying it....it should get easier over time right? I hope so!!!

Thank God the work week is over! Yes my friends, I work 4 - 10 hour days, other than cheap health insurance, this is the only other perk! 

So this morning, I had cereal for breakfast, 1 cup of multi grain cheerios with 1/2 cup 1% milk. Turns out that is pretty much the typical size for a bowl of cereal, so I was quite pleased! Honestly sometimes the "correct" portion size is ridiculously small, and wouldn't even fill up gnat. 

For lunch it was turkey and mustard on wheat with a side of rice left over from last nights dinner. P.S. I was a little filthy today and had 1 cookie at work as well....My one buddy brought some in...it was tasty...I have no regrets :P

Dinner was supposed to be chicken again, however, the chicken did not thaw in time, so we had subway...Jared style! Amber had Chicken Teriaki and I had the Turkey and Black Forrest Ham both on wheat :)

Today was a resting day for me exercise wise, however Amber did a mile on the treadmill this evening..Good job baby :) We are going to alternate workout days due to the kids it just makes life easier. 

I had 6 cigarettes today...BLAH...I should be doing better! It is hard my friends, it is hard :( Amber does great with the smoking...she has like 1 a day...sometimes 1 every other day....Someday I will that good...someday :)

For breakfast today, I had a Peanut butter sandwich :(  Not the best choice, however I woke up later than I should have, and needed to eat something quick. Oh well, it's not the worst thing I could have had.

For lunch, I had a turkey sandwich, no cheese, mustard only. Used white bread, but Amber picked up wheat bread today at the store. I also had a small side salad.

After work , I hopped on the treadmill, and did 40 mins, 2.4 miles, 370 calories!! That is .3 miles further, and 60 calories more than I did on monday :) I'm not exactly sure how many calories you're supposed to burn in a day, but I'm feeling pretty good about it so far :) After the treadmill, I did 22 sit ups, and 22 push ups. This is 2 more each which I know doesn't sound like much but I think it's best to do it a little at a time :)

For dinner, we had beef and vegetable stir fry served over brown rice. Water with lemon to drink. For dessert, again we had the fat free frozen yogurt which again , is very tasty :)

Oh, and turns out I didn't get in trouble at worked today...only because I started early and fixed the problem :)

All in all it has been a good day, cigarettes smoked: 7. I know it's the same as yesterday, but I gotta be honest here, It's hard to give up everything at once! I'll get there :)

Tuesday, Jan. 5th, 2010


For breakfast this morning I had honey and cinnamon oatmeal . Did not skip today :) I had one packet, that was 150 calories. I don't think that is too bad right?  For lunh, I took left over from dinner last night, so I had 3 grilled chicken strips, green beans and a few potatoes that were left. For dinner tonight, we are making lean pork chops, and by lean I mean LEAN. These things must be the thinnest pork chops known to man!! Along side of the "paper" chops, we will be having peas, and salad.


I am not doing the treadmill today. I am starting on an every other day basis until my body gets used to this. No worries however, I am on my feet all day at work, and am absolutly certain that I walk at LEAST 10 miles a day, probably more. Now mind you it is not always at a steady pace, but non the less it is fast paced, and constant.

It was a shitty day at work today, and I am sure to be in trouble first thing in the morning, but that is a long story. So yep, you guessed it, I didn't do as well as I would have liked with the smoking. Yesterday I had 5, today I am at 7 so far. It is 6:17pm, as long as I can get past the after eating cig, I should be good for the rest of the night. Although I had 7 smokes today, I still am proud because it MUCH less than normal:)  As I assumed, this smoking business is going to be the hardest part. I am actually doing quite well with "portion eating"  .  The excersising makes me feel good when I'm done, but like I said, gotta start slow.  My legs are sore today for sure, but that's a good thing.

Well it is yet another brand new year, and myself and Amber are determined to to get our butts in gear and start eating right and excersising...I'm sorry, COCHSERSISING!!! I keep telling myself every year that I'm going to get fit, and get healthy, and I get lazy and give up after a couple weeks. I have created this blog to maybe help keep myself motivated. They say it is good to keep a log of your progress, so I figured what better way to log it than on here where you, the people, can leave comments and share maybe some helpful tips such as : good dinner ideas, different excersises that you may do, what is a "safe" dessert , etc.


Along with COCHSERSISING and eating healthy, I also would like to make yet another attempt to quit smoking....AGAIN. Perhaps maybe this could be some sort of log/moral support page so that I don't drift off into "I don't care" land again.


We are by no means "FAT" , we are both just a tad out of shape, and could spare a few pounds for those in need...like people with eating disorders lol!!


Ok, so here goes.

Cochrans Log: Star date 2010, It is the 4rth day of the new year. Daily accomplishments include as follows:

Skipped Breakfast...BAD!

Lunch 11am: Shrimp and cocktail sauce - approx. 15-20 shrimp, boiled.

Ecersise after work(5pm): 40 mins. on treadmill, 2.1 miles , 310 calories burned - 20 sit-ups, 20 push ups.

Dinner 6:30pm: Grilled chicken Strips(3) , potatoes, green beans, lemon water to drink.

Dessert: Fat free frozen yogurt(choc.)

Cigarettes smoked : 5 (usually smoke a pack or more a day)

I feel like today went really well for the first day, of course the first day always goes well. This will all be put to the test as time goes on, but if I/we can get over the hump, then I believe it will get easier. So, please leave some comments with good suggestions :) Hey, feel free and join in in the COCHSERSISING!!!!!!
