PAUL COCHRAN
About Me

My name is Paul Cochran. Born in Johnstown,Pa , raised in Bainbridge,Pa , and currently residing in Elizabethtown,Pa. I started playing drums in 4rth grade , which would have made me about 8 years old. I remember hearing Metallica's "One", and when I heard the double bass at the end of the song, I said to myself, "I wanna do THAT!!". I'm not so sure my parents were too thrilled about all the noise that was soon to follow, but non the less, they were 100% supportive. My parents bought me my first drum kit in 6th grade, I beat that thing until there was nothing left! In 8th grade they bought me my Tama kit, which I still have today.

I joined my first rock band I guess in 9th or 10th grade, playing mostly covers, with a few originals. We never made it too far other than playing the battle of the bands at the post prom party, winning first place 2 years in a row. At the time I guess we all thought we were top dogs and ready to take over the world. Well, of course that never happened, we all graduated, band mates took off to college, I took off to the construction field, and so life began.

I formed another band shortly after with some friends, and we wrote all of our own stuff. My first full original band. That got us into a small christian coffee shop here in Elizabethtown, which is funny because we definetly were not playing christian music lol. We were not playing devil music either, however, we were a little much for the coffee shop I believe. This project also came to a hault.

Over the next year or so, I jammed with a few people, but nothing serious. Then came NUM. This band was magic from day one. Four guys, with 110% dedication , drive and PASSION. I spent 5 years of my life with these incredible musicians that became one of the most powerful bands in the local scene. We literally went from the basement to playing 2 nights a week for 2 years, over night. We met some amazing people and bands during this time, and we played some really awesome venues. We got the opportunity to play NYC, Philadelphia, and of course all the surrounding clubs in the local area. Unfortunatly as time went on, tension between band mates became intolerable. We tried to continue on for awhile but it was just making things worse. Our hearts were not into it anymore.

Over the previous years, I learned to play guitar, and a bit of bass. I try to sing, but I'll be the first to tell you, I'm not what you would call a good singer. I was very self conscience about it, but I decided I didn't care. I have things to say, so I'm gonna say them. That was the birth of my former solo project, MINUS ZERO. I never got too far with MZ, other than some at home recordings and a website. I had no band to play live with, and it's a little difficult to play all the instruments at the same time lol! I was missing playing live though. So,I wrote some accoustic songs, and started playing some open mic nights around the area. First time I played, it was a flop. I knew it wasn't because of the songs I wrote, but because of my voice. Never the less, I continued on, and within a year, I had a small following of dedicated fans.

I took a break back in May(2008), to make some personal changes in my life. Things I needed to do to get back on track, and find myself again. It is now Dec.(2008), and I am ready to start something new. I have said goodbye to MZ, and I'm starting a fresh new project that I hope, will expose new found inspiration, show who I am today, explain who I was before, not only through music, but through diary entries, video, and photos. My name is Paul, and I'm not dead, I just began living.
